The New Arrivals on tour in the 70s
Larry "Shorty " Syres
Born in Los Gatos, Ca. What can one say about a bass player who can only feel his parts like no one else can? Not much more than he is simply the solid rock a group needs to go beyond normal. Shorty has also worked with the Digbeats for the last 20 years. When The New Arrivals rehearsed it was sometimes at his dad’s store, Village Paints, in Los Gatos. Now that place is a Sharper Image. No one knows for sure why he is called “Shorty”??
Tom Muller
A San Jose native, he has played with himself on keyboards since the age of six and it shows. Well, sometimes he does take a good solo. Tom played piano for Chuck Berry along with Rick on bass many times and they have some great stories to tell about Mr. Rock and Roll. Ask them any time. Send a question to us brother/sister. Tom has recently returned full time to music production and composition and has released 6 CDs on his TAJ Stone Records label.
Ricky Lee Leachman
Born in Albert Lee, Minnesota and immigrated by himself to Los Gatos, Ca when he was two years old. Quite an independent guy, no? No not Gollum but Rickum. He is our own version of the Mordor Man. Slick and tight on guitar and vocals and always johnny-on-the-pot er spot to play his best. A real pro. Rick owns OFFSHORE MUSIC in Capitola, Ca where he’ll give you a great deal if you mention this bio. Rick is one of the best creative musical guys around when it comes to comp ideas and themes.
Mark Fenichel
Harmonica player supreme. You may have heard him numerous times on K-FOX in San Jose sitting in with Greg Kihn and many big names who stop by and perform live. If we were to list whom he has worked with it would takes pages. Trust us, he is incredible. In addition he records with some of the biggest names in the business. We are very lucky he has his home with us.
Rick Alegria
When he is not working with Maria Muldaur or Paul Williams as he has for years he can be found with The New Arrivals. Rick is that rare natural percussionist who lives for tempo and beat. A human metronome with feeling and drive. A monster musician who pushes the band to new departures and new arrivals. Rick also devotes a good deal of time collecting and restoring rare drum sets and teaching his percussion craft to a select group of students.
